Welcome to the Inland Empire
Once known as the Orange Empire, for its many acres of orange groves in the early 1900s, the Inland Empire is a great place to get away from busy cities. The Inland Empire is known for its sprawling mountains, quaint cities and rich history. There’s something for everyone, from wildlife enthusiasts to wine drinkers.
Start your day with an adventure, by checking out the multiple hiking trails that will give you a direct view of the local wildlife. If you prefer two wheels, visit Idyllwild - known for more than it’s cool name, it offers a variety of bike trails ranging from beginner to expert riders. Or, if you’re really up for an adventure, take a zipline tour and fly your way through the mountains. Afterwards, you can cool off with a dip in the local lakes, like Lake Elsinore, the largest natural freshwater lake in Southern California.
Once your feet are back firmly on the ground, relax at one of the many local wineries or restaurants to take in the local scenery. Take a step back in time at Old Town In Temecula Valley, for a taste of the 1859 Wild West. Tour the mile stretch of historic shops and restaurants that look like they were taken right out of a western film. Or, you can check out one of the shows at the San Manuel Amphitheater - the largest outdoor amphitheater in the country.
No matter the adventure you are craving, you can find it here at The Inland Empire.

It all started in 1974 as a 3,500 square foot produce stand in Temescal Canyon. Now, it’s grown to include a number of shops, restaurants and attractions. Try your hand at gold panning in Toms Mining Company, take a train ride through the surrounding mountains or check out the craft fair every weekend. It’s fun for the whole family - just the way Tom wanted it.
Wine By Horseback
Several companies in area offer Temecula horseback riding tours, where you can sip on premium wine while trotting through local wineries. If you’ve never been on horseback before, don’t worry - newer riders will get a quick horseback riding tutorial and some saddle time before hitting the tipsy trail. Just remember that your horse doesn’t count as a designated driver.
A wildlife sanctuary in the San Bernardino Mountains, the Wildhaven Ranch is dedicated to preserving and protecting native and endangered, non-releasable wildlife, providing safety in their natural environment. You will need reservations before visiting, but you can attend their Wings N’ Things bird exhibit and Paws N’ Claws program every Saturday year round.
