Mesalands Dinosaur Museum

The Exhibit Hall at the Mesaland’s Community College’s Dinosaur Museum houses a host of replicated and original fossils from tiny footprint casts to the 40′ long skeleton Torvosaurus, a rare carnivore relative of Tyrannosaurus rex which hails from the Jurassic period. The Museum’s focus is on the Mesozoic period, which is also known as ‘The Age of Dinosaurs.’ The Mesozoic is comprised of the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Features of the Dinosaur Museum include: 10,000 square feet of exhibit space spacious, well-equipped paleontology/geology laboratory large storage area for Museum collections not on exhibit.

"Last of the original Route 66 curio shops in New Mexico, don't miss it!  Tucumcari is a small town in northeastern New Mexico, United States of America. It is located along Interstate 40 and is the first town of significance in New Mexico if driving west from Texas along that route. The town is a highlight for those following the former Route 66, as it contains a large amount of Route 66-era neon and colorful signs.

Experience the legendary past through collections located on three floors of the 1903 school house, containing a wide variety of artifacts and memorabilia from the surrounding area. Various rooms are based on themes with thousands of items on display.  There are five outdoor and indoor exhibits, located on our 1/2 block of native landscaped grounds. The Big Red Barn, Wagon Shed, Firehouse, Route 66 Exhibit, Caboose, and Annex are all easily accessible.

From here, you can easily visit Capulin Volcano National Monument, the Boy Scout Museum, Santa Fe Trail and Raton's Downtown Historic District or take in the Independence Day ballooning events, fireworks and small-town parade. You'll find restaurants, a grocery store and shopping right across the street from the Raton KOA and a game room and horseshoes right on-site. Max pull thru: 90 feet.
