Atlanta is a tremendously diverse city and a great destination to visit for anyone looking for something to do. The city offers something for everyone no matter if you are single or have an entire family that is looking for adventure. If you are a night owl you will find that Atlanta is a city that never sleeps with plenty to do, see and eat at any time of the day. The Atlanta Zoo is a beautiful location with well over 1,500 animals calling the zoo home. You can see wildlife from all over the world here, including the rare Giant Panda Bears. It is worth noting that the Atlanta Zoo is one of only four zoos in America that have pandas. Even though the pandas might be one of the star attractions, there are many other wonderful things to see and do here as well. Take in wildlife shows or feed many of the animals behind the scenes. The zoo even has its own petting zoo for visitors to enjoy. Tipping the scales at over 10 million gallons of water, the Georgia Aquarium is not only impressive, it is the largest fresh and marine water aquarium in the world. The aquarium is so large that it is spread out over several galleries. With dozens of water habitats and several hundred species of from around the world, there is so much to see while here. The Aquarium even features gigantic whale sharks and beluga whales. With thousands of marine animals to see, you could easily spend an entire day here just looking at the marine life. On top of all of this, the Aquarium hosts several live events. Including a 3D underwater show and a dolphin show. One of the best ways to explore the historic attractions of the city is on a Peachtree Trolley Tour. From your trolley, you can relax and enjoy the 90 min narrated history of the city of Atlanta. The best part of these tours is they are a great way to beat the Atlanta heat as they are fully air conditioned.

In 1926, fourteen civic-minded Atlantans chartered the Atlanta Historical Society to help preserve the city’s history. These founding members met at each other’s homes, collected early manuscripts and photographs, and published research bulletins – all “to arouse in the citizens and friends of Atlanta an interest in its history.” Over the past 82 years, the organization has grown substantially in both scope and size, and in 1990, the Atlanta Historical Society and all of its holdings officially became the Atlanta History Center. Now located on 33 acres in historic Buckhead, the Atlanta History Center strives to connect people, history, and culture through one of the country’s premier History Centers.
We strive to inspire the citizens of Atlanta and Georgia and all visitors to the Zoo to value wildlife on Earth and to help safeguard existing species through conservation. We do this by: Providing an informative, educational, and engaging experience, being respectful and responsible stewards of the animals and the physical and financial assets entrusted to us, and engaging in related conservation activities and research.
