The Front Range is a mountain range of the Southern Rocky Mountains of North America located in the central portion of the U.S. State of Colorado, and southeastern portion of the U.S. State of Wyoming. It is the first mountain range encountered moving west along the 40th parallel north across the Great Plains of North America. The Front Range runs north-south between Casper, Wyoming and Pueblo, Colorado and rises nearly 10,000 feet above the Great Plains. Longs Peak, Mount Evans, and Pikes Peak are its most prominent peaks, visible from the Interstate 25 corridor. The area is a popular destination for mountain biking, hiking, climbing, and camping during the warmer months and for skiing and snowboarding during winter. Millions of years ago the present-day Front Range was home to ancient mountain ranges, deserts, beaches, and even oceans. The name "Front Range" is also applied to the Front Range Urban Corridor, the populated region of Colorado and Wyoming just east of the mountain range and extending from Cheyenne, Wyoming south to Pueblo, Colorado. This urban corridor benefits from the weather-moderating effect of the Front Range mountains, which help block prevailing storms.

Gain a bird's-eye view of Estes Park without having to hike! The Estes Park Aerial Tram safely whisks you above the treetops to the summit of Prospect Mountain. Operating daily from the end of May to early September, the tram is one of the few European-style cable cars operating in the United States. Instead of using towers to support the wires, the tram, built and designed by Robert Heron, travels across a free span of wires strung between top and bottom stations. Since 1955, it has carried more than 3 million people to the summit, where riders spend as much time as they wish observing and photographing the gorgeous panoramas, hiking family-friendly trails, or sometimes even getting married!

Fiske Planetarium and Science Center is located on the campus of the University of Colorado, in Boulder, Colorado. First opened in 1971 from a generous donation from Wallace Franz Fiske (class of 1917), Boulder's own planetarium hosts a diverse range of star shows, star talks, laser shows, and special live events. Our planetarium's 20-meter diameter dome (the largest between Chicago and Los Angeles) was for many years home to one of the few Zeiss Mark VI Star Projectors, affectionately known as "Fritz," after the German engineer who oversaw its installation. In 2013, Fiske began a major systems upgrade, making it one of the most technically advanced theaters on planet Earth. Fiske Planetarium and Science Center works to serve CU faculty and students, local schools, and the general public. We host special talks and educational events, and often host large crowds during astronomical and NASA-related events. Fiske is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm weekdays, and select hours in the evenings and on weekends for special events, including weekly laser shows on Friday nights and a topical discussion of the night sky on Thursday evenings.

Rocky Mountain National Park’s 415 square miles encompass and protect spectacular mountain environments. Enjoy Trail Ridge Road – which crests over 12,000 feet including many overlooks to experience the subalpine and alpine worlds – along with over 300 miles of hiking trails, wildflowers, wildlife, starry nights, and fun times. In a world of superlatives, Rocky is on top! Rocky Mountain National Park is a living laboratory. Everyone from preschoolers to Ph.D.'s can study their favorite natural sciences while enjoying the breathtaking beauty of this park. The riparian (wetland) ecosystem of the park is based in 150 lakes and 450 miles of streams. Lush plant life and dense wildlife are the hallmarks of these wet areas that speckle and divide other ecosystems. Forests of pine and grassy hillsides dominate the montane ecosystem in the park. These areas may be drier than riparian areas but life still abounds. Look for critters leaping or creeping from tree to tree or poking their heads from underground.Visit Rocky Mountain National Park
