1. Lights

Checking that all exterior lights are working on your vehicle is extremely important as this is a legal requirement. In most cases these are very easy to replace at home.

Having cracked or damaged lenses can cause your vehicle to fail its certificate of fitness, including if there is a buildup of condensation in the light housing.

2. Engine

MAKE SURE YOUR ENGINE IS OFF!

Checking the oil and coolant level, if you are not sure what the correct level is meant to be. There will be marking on the dipstick for the oil and markings on the coolant reservoir if you're still not sure, please refer to your vehicle hand book.

Visually check for leaks and make sure any belts that are accessible are tight and secure.

3. Tyres

Checking your tyre pressure is important, over or under inflating your tyres can cause unnecessary wear on them. Check the tyre or any unusual wear this could be due to a bad wheel alignment, which if not corrected with cause not just your tyres to wear out faster but also steering components of your vehicle.

The legal requirements for tyre tread depth is 1.5mm, however we do suggest to change them before your tyre tread gets this low.

4. Outside Vehicle

By making sure that everything is working outside of your vehicle will give anyone using your camper a much better experience, and if you do have any issues you have a bit of time to sort them out before leaving on the next trip.

5. 240v Power, Gas and Hose

Check the connection points to make sure they are firm and secure. Run your hands how the length of the cord feeling for any damage that may not be easily seen. We recommend that you have a certified professional make any repairs to these systems.

6. Interior and 12v Power

By making sure that everything is working inside of your vehicle will give anyone using your camper a much better experience, and if you do have any issues you have a bit of time to sort them out before leaving on the next trip.

Turning your isolator switch off, can extend the life of your house battery when not is use. Testing all your 12v equipment regularly will also make sure any issues can be resolved before the hire starts.
