About this listing
This classic Fiat Ducato van is, in a recent camper's words, "awesome". This camper is a 3 berth ( 1 single and 1 double bench seat in the cab), but has a roomy 2 double beds - one large double above the cab that partially slides away, and a small double that side facing bench seats convert to. Great for overnight guests or if you want the bed to yourself! A 3-ring burner and microwave with decent bench space plus fully self contained bathroom & toilet make this a fabulous 5.5 metre, hi-top campervan. There's plenty of room to move inside but it's easy to drive (thanks also to power steering) and park. Little wonder that Fiat Ducato campers are the Northern Hemisphere's favourite camper brand.
Tips: when dining inside the camper have the side sliding door wide open to really take in New Zealand's stunning vistas.
When it comes to creature comforts, basic bedding is provided. Whatever you use to keep warm, the sleeping squabs are very comfortable - this coming from someone who often has lower back pain and values a good night's sleep when she can get it!
Other than that the usual cutlery and crockery, pans and kettle are included in the hire. Also basic condiments like cooking oil, salt and pepper, tea & coffee.
When you're on the road, use the cigarette lighter port to charge devices, or wait till you're hooked up to power. The fridge is great - it keeps food well chilled, but use it on either mains power or gas so as not to overload the house batteries.
House rules: I have pretty much two. When it comes to looking after this fab fiat, simply do as you would be done by. The other is to relax :)
Travel restrictions are in many ways common sense: avoid long gravel roads and avoid steep driveways. Getting down a steep incline is not a problem, but with a campervan's internal weight you might not get back up again! Be sensible.
The rules for this campervan are simple: Do as you would be done by. In other words take care of this vehicle and everything in a way you'd like to see reciprocated.
I do allow small pets and I do not allow smoking.
Be sensible - don't go up and down very steep inclines; so many vans get stuck and cost a small fortune of YOUR money to be towed out. Not fun.
The last rule is: enjoy yourself and the wonders New Zealand has to offer!
