Discover Hawke's Bay

Welcome to Hawke's Bay

While a wildly popular vacation destination in the summer, come winter as things have wound down you can get the rare and compelling look at the true beauty of Hawke's Bay and its people. Life is more relaxed this time of year. The picture perfect views along the seaside are stunning. Without the tourist-packed crowds you can really take in the scope and the beauty of Hawke's Bay and the surrounding areas, from the Sugar Loaf Reserve to the snowy landscapes of the Ruahine Range.

Hawke’s Bay in the summer is a beautiful location, but Hawke’s Bay in the fall is an explosion of color as the leaves begin to turn. The landscape changes from vibrant greens to rich, reds, yellows, golds and every shade of brown. Hawke’s Bay also boasts an impressive variety of Art Deco architecture from the 1930s that has made it famous over the years for these impressive structures. With the colder days on the Bay, life moves a bit slower. But the highest quality of service is still maintained to visitors. The people of Hawke’s Bay are polite and happy to share this beautiful land with you during your visit.

Getting around the Hawke's Bay is half the fun. Book a camper with Mighway, and let the journey unfold!

Wineries

Beyond the beautiful sights and architecture to take in, Hawke’s Bay has so much more to offer the winter traveler. In the off-season, even though the vineyards and orchards aren’t actually growing, they open up their cellars and the winter tasting tours begin. The beauty of a winter tasting at the wineries is you feel far less rushed. You can take in the atmosphere without the press of crowds.

Farmers' Markets

The wine is not the only impressive thing to be tasted in the region. Hawkes Bay area has a bountiful year-round Farmers market with a tremendous selection of food to savor. Sample some of the best cheeses in the region along with delicious local winter vegetables. And what better way to take the chill off the cool mornings than with a steaming cup of locally sourced coffee.

Art Deco Shopping

Along with the 1930s Art Deco architectural sights, take in a day of antique shopping in the wide range of shopping locations. Maybe you’ll bring a little bit of Art Deco home with you. With the weather a bit cooler it’s also a great time to take in some of the indoor sights. Hawke’s Bay Museum recently has undergone a fresh new renovation that’s well worth a look inside, so make sure to put it on your list.
