Not to far north from the Bay of Islands lies Whangaroa Harbour, it is the resting place of the sailing ship Boyd, which was involved in an incident in 1809, referred to as the Boyd Massacre. The Greenpeace flagship Rainbow Warrior rests nearby at the Cavalli Islands. Now home to reef fishes, it is known world-wide as a spectacular diving spot.

This is a full-day comprehensive tour with many stops including Aupouri Forest, Ninety Mile Beach, Te Paki Stream & Sand Dunes, Cape Reinga, Tapotupotu Bay, Rarawa Beach, Te Kao, Houhora Heads and Ka-Uri Unearthed. We offer free pick-up from your local accommodation.
A short climb and you're at a beautiful viewpoint where the Whangaroa township and coast line is visible. Solid shoes are needed and an iron chain will be climbed so make sure you are prepared. The views are magnificent so worth the climb!
Te Ahu is a multi-functional centre in Kaitaia in New Zealand’s Far North, which brings together the area’s library, museum, i-SITE visitor centre and council services. The complex also houses a café, meeting and banquet rooms and entertainment centre with main hall, little theatre, art space and cinema.
