Taradale is a suburb of the City of Napier, in the Hawke's Bay Region of the North Island of New Zealand. It was a town district from 1886 to 1953, and a borough from 1953 to 1968, when it merged with Napier City. Taradale is located 10 kilometres southwest of the centre of Napier, and is also known as the Taradale and Greenmeadows area. It is the home to some of Hawke's Bay's most prominent vineyards. The population of the Taradale and Greenmeadows area was 16,599 in the 2006 Census, an increase of 972 from 2001.

Opoutama Beach Reserve

Opoutama Beach Reserve is a free campsite operated by the Wairoa District Council. There are 10 campsites available with a maximum stay of three nights. A minimum distance of 2.5 metres must be maintained between campsites for fire safety. Campers are responsible for their own water and are asked to pack all rubbish out with them. There are toilet facilities here (but they're not that flash).. No open fires are allowed. No structures are to be attached to any shrub or tree.

We are conveniently located on the Napier/Taupo Highway and are situated on 300 acres with 3 kms of Mohaka River right on your doorstep. Coming from either direction, look out for our blue road signs which guide you to us from 5km away, then make sure you turn off the main highway onto McVicar Road. Keep going along McVicar Road to the road bridge, and it's just a minute up the hill to reception.
