Wellsford is a town on the Northland Peninsula in the northern North Island of New Zealand. It is the northernmost major settlement in the Auckland Region, and is 77 kilometres northwest of the Auckland CBD. Wellsford is close to a narrowing of the Northland Peninsula caused by an arm of the Kaipara Harbour on the west coast extending inland for 20 kilometres from the body of the harbour, stretching to within 15 kilometres of the east (Pacific Ocean) coast. Wellsford is the rural service town for the local areas of Tauhoa, Tapora, Wharahine, Port Albert, Te Hana, Tomarata, Te Arai, Whangaripo and Pakiri, providing schools, shopping & farm supplies, Stockyards, Doctors etc. The town has a population of only 1,671 but is a major regional centre, being located at the junction of State Highways 1 and 16, almost halfway between Auckland and the Northland city of Whangarei.

Sky Tower

Rangitoto Island

This campsite is set back from Medlands Beach amongst mature trees. With 30 non powered tent sites available it's the perfect spot to disconnect from civilisation and go back to basics. The estuary is safe for swimming and the beach is popular for surfing. For the keen fisherman there is spots to launch a boat as well as areas around the coastlands perfect for fishing.

Harataonga Campsite

Situated between two streams overlooking Overtons Beach, with shelter under mature trees, Harataonga campsite is a favorite for holidaymakers and families. Facilities include showers, access to the beach and shelter for cooking. There is sixty non powered sites and the camp site is just a stone throw away from snorkeling, swimming and diving!
