Rhythm and Vines
If you are looking for a truly special way to ring in the new year, then you need to consider checking out the Rhythm and Vines festival.
What is Rhythm and Vines?
Rhythm and Vines is an international music festival that spans three days. It takes place annually in Gisborne, New Zealand between December 29 and January 1. One of the unique features of this festival is that it is the first one in the world to welcome the first sunrise of the new year. The event was developed in 2003 as a way for college students to celebrate the new year in a beautiful and safe location where they could listen to and enjoy musical entertainment from up-and-coming as well as established artists. Over the past 15 years, the festival has grown exponentially and tickets for the event sell out quickly.
General admission includes access to the festival from 2:00 P.M. December 29 through sunrise on January 1. You can also purchase single-day tickets if that fits your needs better. Please note that attendees must be at least 18 years of age.
Whether you've got the kids at home for a few months or you've got a break from work, summer in New Zealand is the perfect time to relax and get to know the country better. You can make it a mission to find the best beaches, go hiking in the pleasant weather and look for somewhere nice to swim, or just laze on the deck with some good company and nice drink.
We've picked out some awesome vehicles in different areas of New Zealand for you to look at, as well as some great articles from our blog to help inspire you to travel this summer!
Staying at the Festival
You have many options for staying at the festival. If you opt to stay on the grounds, you can engage in some fantastic “glamping”. This option is the perfect choice for visitors who are looking for a more luxurious experience. Tents are available for two or four people and include all the accoutrements you need for a comfortable stay at the festival, including close proximity to premium showers and toilets. If you are looking to rough it a little bit, you can rent a cozy hub that includes all the necessities you will need for your stay, including a duvet, sheets and pillows. If you are looking for a more eco-friendly place to stay, consider renting a tent made from recycled corporate advertising banners.
Staying in an RV
Perhaps the best option for staying on the festival grounds is to stay in an RV. The festival has an RV and Teepee Village set up for your convenience. The village has a place for you to park your RV and has easy access to the main event. You will also have use of hot showers, toilets, a communal area where you can visit with other people at the festival and phone charging access.
