Hire a campervan in Auckland

Explore more when you hire a campervan or motorhome in Auckland

Perfectly situated between two glistening harbours and surrounded by iconic natural features, New Zealand’s most populous city is the ideal blend of urban lifestyle and geographical beauty. You can choose to start your campervan itinerary here, or spend some time getting to know the real Auckland – beyond the Sky Tower – and use some of the campsites and holiday parks around Auckland as your base.

With 1.5 million Kiwis calling Auckland home, it’s no wonder that we have an RV Super Centre here – located on the North Shore, in Albany. Pick up your motorhome from here or arrange collection with one of our local registered campervan owners.

When in Auckland, do as the locals do: make the most of the outdoor lifestyle, live it up at waterfront cafes and bars, attend a cultural festival, clamber up long extinct volcanoes for 360° views of the sprawling city, and get out on the water – whether that’s surfing, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling, or simply hopping on a ferry to discover some of Auckland’s nearby islands in the Hauraki Gulf.

You’re never far from a picturesque beach in Auckland – whether its a rugged black sand beach of the west coast (Piha, Karekare, Muriwai) or the golden sands of the eastern bays (Takapuna Beach, Mission Bay, Long Bay), park up the camper and enjoy some time exploring above and below the surface of the water.

Within an hour’s drive from the central city there are forested hills, thermal springs, wineries and wildlife and marine reserves teeming with natural wonder. Head north to Matakana for fresh local produce, an artisan lifestyle and beachy days, or drive south to start your North Island motorhome or camper road trip.

Stay at a Auckland campground

Takapuna Holiday Park

North Shore Campground

If you're searching for a spot right next to the beach, visit the Takapuna Beach Holiday Park. Wake up to the sunrise over Rangitoto Island, and enjoy panoramic views of the Hauraki Gulf.

This incredible campground offers powered and non-powered sites for caravans, campervans and sleepervans. It has all the facilities you will need for your Kiwi holiday; including safe swimming, a playground, supermarkets and incredible restaurants and cafes right at your doorstep.

Located just 15 minutes from Auckland City, a short drive north, or a quick trip to Devonport, it is the perfect place to stay.

Ambury Regional Park Campground

Auckland, Manukau Harbour

Ambury Campground is located on the coast of the Manukau Harbour. It is an idyllic spot, where you can enjoy farm life.

The campground is maintained and run by the Auckland Council, and to stay here you must have a self-contained campervan or motorhome.

Book a site up to six months in advance and choose a perfect spot to park up, as long as the fields are dry. The cost per night is approximately $16 per adult and $6.50 per child. The campground offers access to bathrooms and drinking water nearby, however there is no power supply here.

It is the perfect spot if you're looking to get off the grid.
