New Year’s Day

Friday, 1st of January 2021

Celebrate 2021 the right way, with the first New Zealand public holiday – New Year’s Day. If you’re nursing a sore head from the night before, be sure to start the year right with a quick dip in the ocean.

January is a great time to travel with campervan hire in New Zealand too. Summer is in full swing, along with jandals and stubbies. It’s also a great time to meet other like-minded travellers on your journey.

Day after New Year’s Day

Monday 4th January 2021 (observed)

The way that the New Zealand public holidays fall in 2021 means that you can start your year with a bang. Have a four day break and plan your long weekend, the right way.

Visit some of these spots in your campervan hire in New Zealand for the long weekend: Matapouri, Moeraki, Mangawhai or the Abel Tasman.

Waitangi Day

Monday 8th February 2021

Threes a crowd, but not when you have a three day weekend. Waitangi Day is the national day of New Zealand. It marks the anniversary of the initial signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, which was held on 6 February 1840. This significant day wasn’t actually celebrated until 1934, and it was made a national public holiday in 1974.

Good Friday & Easter Monday

Friday 2 April 2021 and Monday the 5th of April 2021

Also known as Holy Friday, Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating Jesus. It is observed as part of the Holy Week, preceding Easter Sunday.

Easter Monday is also celebrated and a public holiday in New Zealand. This means that you have a four day weekend. It’s not too late to start planning your next campervan hire in New Zealand.
