The silly season is fast approaching, and It’s almost time for Santa to pay a visit. So, dust off the decorations, start planning your Christmas meal, and visit these Christmas lights. If you’re travelling in campervan hire or at spending the day at home celebrating, you won’t want to miss out on seeing these great Christmas lights in NZ.

Motat Christmas Lights

Each year, Motat brings Christmas alive with their festivities. Located in Auckland, from the 11th-13th and 16-24th of December 2020 you can see these lights. There is plenty of fun for all! Visit Santa in his Grotto, watch Christmas movies and experience magical Christmas lights in NZ like no other. Motat also provide a great range of food and beverage – it’s an event to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

Franklin Road

From the 1st of December you can witness some of the most spectacular Christmas lights in NZ. Take the family to visit Franklin road from 7.30pm until 11pm every night until Christmas Day. Courtesy of the Franklin Road residents, each house is decorated to perfection, dazzling passersby.

TSB Festival of Lights

This year, why not visit one of New Zealand’s largest Christmas events? Attracting around 150,000 visitors per year, this family-friendly event is one for the records. From mid-December, right through until late January 2021, you can see the magical Christmas lights right in the heart of New Plymouth. The light installations, entertainment and daytime activities will put you right in the Christmas spirit.

Christchurch Christmas Light Show

Add 650 Shands Road in Christchurch to your Christmas light bucket list. From the 28th of November 2020, right through to the 30th December, you can see the light designs, animated carnival displays, and listen to Christmas music. The light show is open from 8.30pm till 11.30pm nightly, so there is plenty of time to visit.

Christmas Lights Extravaganza

Hosted by Te Papa, this event truly is a Christmas light extravaganza. Visit the elves in their workshop, see Santa sleeping and witness some of the most incredible light displays and Christmas trees. This event is open from the 1-3 Dec, 8-10 Dec and 15-24 Dec from 9-11pm. There is wheelchair access and storage for prams, a really great December event at Bush City.
