Christmas is the best. It’s the time of year where the entire family comes together to decorate the house and the tree, wrap presents and bake Christmas cookies. This year, why not continue the festive celebrations right through to 2021? Hire a campervan and spend your Christmas holidays in 2020 visiting these amazing New Zealand destinations.

Arrowtown

This is a perfect place to park up your campervan hire for the Christmas holidays in 2020. This charming and laidback New Zealand town is famous for its backdrop. It also has some of the most well known walking tracks, with incredible views of mountains, rivers, lakes and forests.

The small town is also rich with art and culture. It has a first class museum, art gallery, as well as the quaint, boutique Dorothy Brown cinema.

Arrowtown fun fact

You can find New Zealand’s fourth oldest jail in Arrowtown. The original jail was simply a log, where inmates were chained to it. Some years later, a stone jail was built to replace the original.

Mackenzie Region

The Mackenzie Region is known as one of New Zealand’s most scenic and photographed destinations. Enjoy the incredible views, or a relaxing walk through the native forests, a demanding hike or trek into alpine wilderness. The Mackenzie Region has plenty to offer, especially during the Christmas holidays in 2020.

The Mackenzie Region also has incredible swimmings spots for those long, hot summer days. Try out these top swimming spots: Loch Cameron, the Old Iron Bridge and Lake Tekapo.

Cape Reinga – Northland

At the tippy-top of the North Island is where you will find Cape Reinga. Here, you can witness the Tasman Sea meeting the Pacific Ocean, a truly picture perfect destination.

If you’re looking for the perfect spot to enjoy a picnic, we recommend stopping of at Tapotupotu Bay which is 5km before Cape Reinga. The cape is considered a sacred site, so, unfortunately eating is not allowed here.

Te Paki – Giant Sand Dunes

Our next stop is the Te Paki Sand Dunes. The dunes are not one of New Zealand’s most famous destinations, but here you can find plenty of fun for the entire family, especially during the Christmas Holidays. For some great fun, pack your boogie board and slide down the dunes!
