This is the most important time to stay positive, stay active and stay busy. So, to help keep you busy and more importantly happy during the temporary self-isolation and social distancing period, we’ve put together some great tips. Read on & let the fun begin!

Cooking or Baking

If your cookbooks are starting to collect a little dust, try your hand at some baking or cooking. This is the time to really impress the family and pull out all the stops. You don’t even have to rush to the supermarket to gather ingredients. See what’s already in the pantry and find a recipe to suit. One of our favourite recipes, especially as the days start to cool, is a banana loaf.

Spring Clean 

Is your wardrobe bursting from the seams with old clothes and starting to smell a little musty? Now is the perfect time to dive in head first and declutter. Make a list of the areas in your house that need a little touch up and get to it! There’s no time like the present, and you’ll thank us later.

Spend time by yourself in nature

Self-isolation and social distancing doesn’t mean you can’t go for a walk or exercise in nature. Just make sure you go alone or with those that you are in isolation with. Head to your local beach and dip your toes in the ocean. Because, there is nothing more important than your mental health, so we strongly suggest getting ample fresh air and exercise.

Netflix

There are plenty of great shows out on Netflix, especially ones to inspire your next road trip. This is a great way to unwind at the end of the day – don’t spend the entire day binge watching every series.

Meditate 

When you have plenty of time to sit and think about life, it can be easy to get stuck in your own head. We recommend taking 30 minutes to an hour each day, to ease your mind and think nothing but positive thoughts. With such uncertain times, it’s hard, so it’s very important to look after your mental health and well-being.

Read a book

There is nothing better than getting stuck into a great book. This is a great way to stay focused but clear your mind. Find yourself a sunny corner of the house and get a couple of reading hours in each day. This will absolutely help clear your mind.

Board Games

If you’re okay with starting a war in the family, then board games it is! Unleash your competitive side and whip out a game of Monopoly, Uno, Cluedo – maybe put Twister on hold for now. Board games are always a great way to keep everyone entertained & fingers crossed for no arguments.

We understand that these are difficult and uncertain times, and if you do need help, it’s important that you talk to someone. Group call your friends or family and unload. House party is a great app that will help you stay connected. Otherwise call Healthline for further support.
