Rest assured, there are plenty of culturally rich and interesting activities to partake in indoors. Or if you’re visiting in the winter time in New Zealand, you don’t have to be out in the cold and braving the elements in order to have a good time. 1. The Classic Comedy Club

This is one of our favourite indoor activities in Auckland. There are shows going on six nights a week, located in the heart of the Auckland city centre. During the New Zealand International Comedy Fest, you’ll be able to see international acts in a very intimate setting. Thanks to the cabaret style seating, there’s no bad spot in the house.

2. Kelley Talrton’s Sealife Aquarium

One of the most iconic spots that New Zealand has to offer is this aquarium which houses sharks, penguins, turtles, exotic fish and so much more. This site is both fun and educational. You’ll learn about the natural world that immediately surrounds both New Zealand and around the entire world.

3. Auckland Art Gallery

If you want a dose of culture, the Auckland Art Gallery is a world class art institute that is open seven days for 364 days of the year. Christmas Day they are closed. The gallery is the country’s largest art space that is open to the public.

4. Rock climbing

If you still want to be active, yet, cannot spend your time outdoors for an extended period of time, you can rock climb. There are many companies that offer rock walls at varying levels of difficulty. Do your research, as some facilities charge extra to use their equipment while others have the cost of equipment built into the cost of the entry ticket.

5. Skycity

Skycity offers a variety of things to do. There’s a casino that is open 24 hours a day if you’re feeling lucky. If gambling is not your thing, the tower offers stunning views. There are also restaurants and bars available if you get hungry or thirsty while taking in the sights.
