When it comes to top travel destinations around the world, New Zealand would be at the top of almost any list. There are so many things to see and do throughout the country that one could spend a lifetime trying to take everything in. One of the best features about the country is that you can drive almost everywhere. Campervan hire in New Zealand is a great way to see the country too. Let’s dive into what should be on your itinerary when in New Zealand.

Rotorua

For those seeking some extra adventure on their travels, take a look at Rotorua. This small, geothermal-activity heavy town resides in the North Island of New Zealand and offers loads of fun. Kuirau Park is located here, containing some of the world’s most impressive thermal springs and geysers. Both mud and hot pools are available for the public to enjoy, as well as a plethora of other activities in the area such as mountain biking.

Abel Tasman National Park

This teal-watered park is a must-see on the northern tip of the South Island of New Zealand. Featuring some of the finest looking beaches across the globe, this coastal area is a non-stop sightseeing extravaganza filled with activities to partake in. Kayaking is extremely popular on these waters and those that do kayak have an amazing view while doing so.

Hobbiton Movie Set

Any movie history fan, especially fans of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, checking out where some of those movies were filmed will be a blast. The entire “set” spans across from Hamilton to Tauranga, down towards Rotorua and as north as Auckland. Guided tours are available, however, simply traversing the region on your own will bring familiar cinematic memories to life. Special events, such as beer festivals, are also held here.

Lake Wakatipu

Lake Wakatipu resides adjacent to one of the most popular tourist towns in New Zealand, Queenstown. It is the nation’s third-largest lake and is essentially enclosed by a wall of majestic mountains. Fishing is extremely popular here, particularly for those interested in trout. Swimming in the lake or cycling around the lavish trails will keep you busy for days. Plus, you can always head over to Queenstown to take in some New Zealand city life.

Milford Sound

Often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, Milford Sound is truly something to behold. It is in the South Island of New Zealand and is a top global tourism spot, and for good reason. Taking your campervan on a cruise through this area will certainly have you in awe, and further exploration is certainly advised. This area has so many breathtaking spots to see!
