Handy Hints for Cooking While on the Road

Written by mighway

The great thing about a campervan is being able to do all of the things you can do at home. However, it doesn’t always mean that you’re going to be doing them the same way. Cooking on the road, for example, is something that might be more of a challenge. Here are just a few tips and tricks to keep in mind with your motorhome rental and to make your time in the kitchen much easier.

Cooking in

Just because you probably can’t run a restaurant from your campervan, doesn’t mean you have to settle for popcorn and microwave meals. One way to get gourmet meals constantly while on the road is to invest in an instant pot.

These wonderful contraptions can do everything from sautéing to pressure cooking. With these, you can make chili, chicken and even cake. Another tip is to use a pizza stone. A pizza stone is a circular slab of ceramic that you put in your oven to make chicken tenders, French fries, pizza (obviously), cookies, flatbreads and much more. Since most motorhomes use gas, pizza stones are great for distributing heat more evenly. If you’re cooking on the stove, try to find recipes that only call for one pan. This will save space and cut down your washing time. Cooking on the road doesn’t have to be difficult.

Cooking out

Campervans and camping go hand in hand, which means that there’s a good chance you’re going to have plenty of opportunities to cook in the great outdoors. Cooking over an open fire is a classic way of enjoying your time with family and friends, but it may be easier to cook on the barbecue. Store a mini barbecue in the back of your motorhome rental and you’ll be away laughing. This is perfect for just about every meal and nothing is more Kiwi than a barbecue in the summer months.

Motorhomes allow us to have all of the luxuries of home with freedom. Because of their limited space, you may need to adapt or plan ahead. However, change doesn’t always mean a sacrifice. With a few modifications and upgrades, you can be eating the same delicious meals that you eat in your own home. And, don’t forget that it’s not too late to book your summer holiday in New Zealand.
