There are so many different types of motorhomes, and choosing the right one can be daunting. Of course you want to make the perfect selection of motorhome rental, but where do you start? There are so many shapes and sizes to choose from, and a wide variety of features. If you take time to assess your wants and needs, and take all of them into consideration, renting an appropriate motorhome will likely be less overwhelming than you might initially think.

Size

Size is the first thing you will want to consider. Drivable motorhomes range in length from twenty-one to up to forty feet. This means that they are quite different from each other. If you are travelling alone, or with just one other person, one on the smaller end of the spectrum may suffice. If you’re bringing along friends or family, it’s possible to travel in a smaller motorhome, but you will likely want a roomier one for traveling, sleeping, preparing meals, and relaxing.

Kitchen

The size and amenities of the kitchen are something you will want to think about when choosing a motorhome rental. If you plan on doing most of your cooking outside and around the campfire, then you may not need an elaborate kitchen. However, if you want to use a kitchen space for cooking and meal preparation, you may want a stove with multiple burners, a larger refrigerator, and other features such as a microwave or double sided sink for washing dishes.

Bathroom

If you plan on utilising campgrounds with bathroom facilities, you may be just fine with a smaller bathroom space. However, if you will be dry camping, and not near brick-and-mortar facilities, then you will probably want a larger bathroom space for your comfort, and a motorhome with a large clean water storage tank so you can shower without having to connect to campground hookups.

Slide-Outs

The more slide-outs that your motorhome has, the more space you will have. Of course, slide-outs need to be retracted when in transit, but when you are in camp they can really change everything for you. In most cases, the more slide-outs, the better.

Sleeping Space

Of course, you’ll need to consider sleeping space for everyone in your party when renting a motorhome. Make sure that there are enough beds for everyone and maybe even consider a few extra. Often, motorhome listings overestimate the amount of sleeping space they truly contain, and if you do happen to end up with a little more than you need, beds are great and accessible storage space for your things, too.

Before choosing a motorhome rental, take some time to really think about your trip and what you want and need. Once you have narrowed it down a little, you will soon find the perfect motorhome for you, and you can get out there and get on the road and start exploring New Zealand!
