It’s Summer in New Zealand! On December 21 it is officially summer, so bring on the festivals. Whether you are a fan of music or food and drink, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Summer Beer Festival Queenstown
Bringing family friendly fun on January 14, 2017, between 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., to the Queenstown Recreation Ground, is the Summer Beer Festival. Represented at the festival will be local and visiting breweries. Focussing on New Zealand’s ever growing craft beer industry will be the locals: Cargo, Altitude, Ground Up, B Effect, Wanaka Beer Works, and Sidewinder, among others. Some of the visiting breweries will be Tuatara, Panhead, 8 Wired, and Garage Project to name of few. Cider from Zeffer and Lillevik Alpine will also be on hand for the celebration. As mentioned, the festival has something for the whole family including a Kid Zone, a variety of food trucks and live music. General admission tickets are $35.00 and children are free.
Soundsplash Festival Raglan
Returning on January 20th and 21st to the Wainui Reserve is Soundsplash. Located five minutes from Raglan is the beautiful Wainui Reserve. The Reserve which is alongside Ngarunui Beach and surrounded by amazing coastal views will delight festival guests. In addition to being a music festival, Soundsplash focuses on environmental concerns. The festival proves to be a stage for the multi-sub genre for those who appreciate music and are environmentally conscience. This year’s festival will feature 40 acts on three stages. Among those slated to perform are Six60, Little Bushman and Mike Love. Purchase tickets in advance for individual, group or youth passes. Kids that are 14 and under entering free with an adult. General admission tickets for 18+ are $145.00 for the two-day event.
Rotorua Summer Seafood Festival
On Sunday, January 29 from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 pm enjoy the Rotorua Summer Seafood Festival, nestled next to the lovely Lake Rotorua on the Village Green. Unwind with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and enjoy the mouth-watering seafood and other delectables that will be offered in the open air.
