Friday Street Food Market – Christchurch chch night market

The Friday Street Food Market is a must-visit event if you love food.  This open-air market has food trucks, food stands, ethnic eats and entertainment.  Stroll along with locals during this weekly Friday festival of food and try all the different offerings.  You’ll be able to find everything from snacks to meals to desserts.

Steampunk NZ Festival 2016 is a great event to check out if you’re into different micro cultures, alternative histories, or sci-fi and fantasy.  Steampunk is the glorious blending of the Victorian age with technology for an awesome blend of old fashion dress with a science fiction feel.  The costuming is usually spectacular, and the people are often very friendly and willing to help you to learn more about their passion.

Ferrymead Heritage Park – Christchurch

Ferrymead Heritage Park is hosting a celebration for the Queen’s Birthday weekend that offers discounted admission prices to get into the park and a variety of things to do while visiting.  There will be a bouncy castle, tram rides, old time movie showings, craft and food vendors, a flag hunt, an authentic blacksmith and steam train rides.  This is certainly a family-friendly event that everyone will enjoy.

Whether or not you may be from a country that no longer has a monarch, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the party celebrating the Queen!  Not seeing an event that you’re interested in attending?  That’s okay!
